Community Connection Almanac 2012
While 2013 has made its way into our lives for 30 days already, we’d like to reflect on what last year had to offer. 2012 was a great year for YADARI Enterprises, both within and with our collaborations with other organizations and companies.
YADARI Presents Our 2012 Community Connection Almanac! Take a ride with us!
In January, we made history in Fairfiled with the swearing in of Pam Bertani was into Fairfield City Council. That same month, the California Black Chamber of Commerce held their Legislative Reception.
February brought on a fundraiser for Congressman John Garamendi with special guest the Honorable James E. Clyburn, longest standing Democratic Congressman in the house. The event was held at Fairfield’s Chez Soul Southern Cuisine.
From March 29-31, we rocked out with CBCC for the African American Wellness Weekend. During the weekend, YADARI presented Digital Frontier: Social + Mobile for Your Mission.
In April, we made our way to Louisville, Kentucky for the SBA Microloan Program Session to learn how to help our favorite community-based organizations provide additional financing services to micro-enterprises. And from May 18-19, our CEO Tara Lynn Gray served as a Conference Mentor at The African Network Conference.
On June 23, Tara attended a campaign volunteer appreciation lunch Dr. Ruth McClanahan for Patti & John Garamendi.
In July, we graduated the inaugural BLISS cohort, equipping business people with the tools necessary to sustain themselves. With August came the Youth Entrepreneur Summit, where Earving “Magic” Johnson, Ruthie Bolton, and Maggie Anderson offered advice to budding business people. Tara also led a technology workshop with Kristene Smith.
In September, we traveled to Washington DC for Prosper 2012. While there, we met with Boxer, Feinstein, Matsui, and Garamendi. That same month, Tara, who is a member on the board of the Sickle Cell Network, attended their annual fundraiser.
In November, we spent election Day with Supervisor Linda Seifert and Supervisor Skip Thomson.
We made contributions in 2012. We plan to do the same in 2013!
